26 Blocks opening Friday May 7th, 2010

I am involved in a community based art project and gallery show called 26 Blocks. Read below to see the premise behind the project….

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN… if 26 of the best writers in metro Phoenix were paired with 26 of the best photographers in metro Phoenix?

AND WHAT IF… you asked each team to create their work within certain boundaries (writers: 500 words or less, any genre; Photographers: up to four pictures in one image, any style) and to capture the past, present or future of one of 26 randomly selected downtown Phoenix city blocks?

Sharing a common goal of promoting downtown Phoenix, 26 Phoenix-based photographers, 26 Phoenix-based writers and one sculptor/painter teamed up to create artwork that reflects their perspectives of each block’s history, present or possible future. Come check it out…

WHEN: Opening, Friday May 7, 2010, 6pm – 9pm.

About

Mark Peterman is a Commercial and Editorial photographer currently based in Phoenix, Arizona. His work includes commercial and editorial photography in the studio or on location with a focus on lifestyle, portraiture and travel.

Mark’s work reflects a graphic, story-telling quality with a cinematic feel. His images mix a produced look with an apparently ordinary moment, accomplished by his attention to the details of lighting, props, styling, casting, sets, and backgrounds. He photographs normal people well by putting his subjects at ease.

He is continually refining his artistic vision by drawing on influences from music, literature and art. Mark shoots for a diverse stable of clients in advertising and editorial capacities and his work has been published in a wide variety of national and international publications.
